• What is it?
  The netgoth Events section lists UK-based events of "gothic interest", including - but not limited to - club nights, gigs, festivals & exhibitions. Large international events (such as Convergence or the Invitation) may also be listed. Like the rest of netgoth, the Events section is moderated, and submissions won't appear until they're approved.

• Who's in charge?
  dishmop built the database and handles all coding for it - if you think you've found a bug, report it to him. Event details are provided by netgoth members, and you can find out who submitted an entry by clicking on "detail" next to it on the main index page.

  The list is kept as up to date as possible, however the accuracy of any information therein is not guaranteed in any way and the moderators/admin are not responsible for errors. Please double-check event details yourself.

• How often is the section moderated?
  Normally at least once daily, but this will vary with how busy the mods are. Please bear in mind that if you submit an event at short notice, there's a fair chance that it may not get approved in time.

• I want to submit something. What details do I need to provide?
  First off, please ensure that what you're submitting is an event of particular interest to people of a gothic persuasion. (This is netgoth, after all.) Generic rock/metal/alternative gigs and club nights will not be approved, and submissions that give no indication of what to expect will be nuked. It bears mentioning that anyone who disregards a gentle warning & persists in spamming the database with irrelevant subs will be administratively prevented from submitting.

  In order to make the entry as useful as possible, we would ask that you fill in all fields on the submissions form. The bare minimum would be a title (for gigs, the band's name please!), location (Town and County), venue, date, time, and cost. You can also use the Details field to:

  • advise about age restrictions where appropriate (we strongly encourage you to do this)
  • describe the venue, offerings & guests
  • give information about ticket sales
  • provide additional information relevant to the event

  You can also add a pertinent URL in the field provided. If tickets are available online, a link to the relevant outlet is most useful.

  In keeping with the general site guidelines, symbol/CAPS LOCK abuse will result in your submission being nuked, and a spell check never hurts. For the sake of clarity and usefulness, the moderators reserve the right to edit submission content and add or change details.

• How far in advance of the event date can I submit?
  It's general practice to restrict the calendar to 6 months ahead, but festivals & other large events can be listed as soon as they're officially announced.

• Can I submit my birthday party/band practices/RPG night etc.?
  If it's goth-oriented, held in a public place (not on the property of a private residence) with permission, and anyone is welcome to attend, yes. Closed events, or those only open to a group with closed membership, will not be approved.

• What non-UK events can be listed, and what information do I need to give?
  Festivals featuring big-name acts and any other heavily organised/promoted goth-oriented events that invite an international audience are acceptable. Large fringe events (cons, Renaissance festivals etc) will also be considered.

  Foreign tour dates and club nights outside the UK will not be approved.

  When submitting a non-UK event, please include as much detail in your submission as possible, including precise location and how to buy tickets (where applicable). Ambiguous/incomplete submissions for non-UK events will only be accepted when a supplementary URL containing all relevant information (preferably in English) is provided.

• How can I tell if my submission has been rejected?
  If it's not listed in the Calendar where you'd expect it to be, check the pending queue (where it says "Pending moderation: [n]" in the left column of the index page). The number indicates how many submissions are awaiting moderation, so if that number is 0, your submission has been either been rejected or the date you entered on the submission form was incorrect and it's listed elsewhere on the Calendar. Search (Ctrl-F) the index for your event; if you find it, you can fix the date by clicking "Edit my entry." If your event isn't listed at all, read through this FAQ again for the reason(s) why it was refused.

• How can I edit/delete an event I've submitted?
  If you're logged into the site (which you must be in order to edit your events), just click on the "edit my entry" link that appears next to your entry on the main index. Edit the details and re-submit - your changes will bypass moderation & display immediately. At the moment it's not possible to delete your entry, but you can add text to say that it's cancelled or postponed.

• Can I submit a single recurring entry for a regular event?
  Not yet unfortunately, so you'll have to submit a separate entry for each instance.

• How many points do I get for submitting an event?
  One.

• The details for an event are wrong, but I didn't submit it and therefore can't fix it - what can be done?
  If you are the event organiser, mail the moderators with the correct information & supporting URL (if applicable) & we'll take care of it.

• What are Featured Events, and how are they chosen?
  Some events catch our eye because they're different from the usual fare, & others are of interest to lots of people so we try to flag them early. If you'd like your event to be featured (and have a suitable bribe to offer :) ), submit it to the list if it isn't there already, and mail jen with your request and a banner no wider than 200px. Conversely, if you're featured and no longer wish to be, let her know. Featured events will be removed when they're no longer valid.

• Do you offer an RSS/RDF feed for the list?
  Yes, it's at http://www.netgoth.org.uk/events/rdf.php.

• Can I receive the list by email?
  You can indeed, as dishmop's just written some (beta) code that enables this. Edit your profile and select "Yes" to "Receive events by email", then save. On the 1st of each month, you'll get a list of all events held in the database for that month. Again, it's beta, and if you experience any problems or something appears odd, let dishmop know.
